Scaffolding
The Project
The major regeneration of Rathbone Market in Canning Town, delivered through the English Cities Fund (ECF), involved creation of 652 new homes, along with ground floor retail space. The development also included two public squares, purpose-built facilities for market traders and a new public library and community centre.
Millcroft was appointed to Phase 3 of the project by main contractor, John Sisk & Son. This involved provision of 216 homes, in blocks ranging from 4-6 storeys, situated around a communal garden with a mature oak tree and a secure gated entrance via the public square.
The Solution from Millcroft
Millcroft’s scope of works comprised access scaffolds for brickwork, followed by adaptions for all trades.
The project had to be designed and managed around the site’s challenging small footprint and logistics requirements. When the Millcroft team struck the scaffold, we removed around 100 tonnes of equipment each week with daily trailer swaps to help the client maintain construction progress on the project.
Millcroft won several Health and Safety awards during the contract and a number of Green Cards were issued throughout the project for the safety and attitude of our workforce.
