Scaffolding
The Project
An office building owned by Transport for London (TfL), Griffith House is situated adjacent to the Hammersmith & Circle lines at Edgware Road Station. The Western elevation has the rail tracks below, running parallel with the facade of the building.
Remedial works were required to the existing brickwork and the work had to be completed without interruption to rail services, requiring a bespoke scaffolding solution from Millcroft.
The Solution from Millcroft
The Millcroft design team engineered a bespoke cantilever and suspended scaffold to afford access to the top six metres of the building.
The scaffold was erected using alloy beams and tube to minimise the dead load of the scaffold and to assist the scaffolders in the erection process. Each level is boarded with the lowest level being overlaid in ply to provide full protection to the tracks below, with the scaffold clad in debris netting. A ground-based scaffold was erected to the remaining elevations of the building.
