Leading scaffolding specialist, Millcroft, has been awarded a £700K project to enable internal fit out at ISG’s £34 million campus redevelopment project for Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC).
Part of a wider £80 million masterplan to transform facilities at the well-respected further education college, the project involves construction of a new five-storey teaching block by ISG. The building will create a state-of-the-art teaching facility for technology-enabled teaching courses at RuTC, with accommodation including TV studios, a 3D prototyping fabrication laboratory (FabLab) and a digital golf studio.
Millcroft will erect a complex network of bridged birdcage scaffolding inside the completed building shell to enable interior cladding works to the walls and ceilings. A combination of acoustic and decorative panelling will be installed by the construction team across the teaching spaces and atria and the scaffolding has been designed by Millcroft’s in-house team to enable access and provide safe working platforms for working at height.
The company has worked closely with ISG to devise a phased programme for erection of the scaffolding, aligned to the critical path of the construction schedule. The Millcroft team began work on the project in December 2018 for completion by August 2019.
