Mike Wright, Millcroft’s Head of HSEQ, has been appointed to represent Millcroft on the NASC’s Current Affairs Committee in a move intended to draw on his knowledge of health & safety, environmental and training best practice.
The role of the committee is to identify areas of policy, legislation and best practice affecting the scaffolding sector and wider construction industry. Using the knowledge and insight of its members, the committee develops initiatives and guidance that NASC members can use to raise standards and implement positive change to deliver continuous improvement in the sector. This includes areas as diverse as skills, sustainability and health & safety.
Mike explains: “Essentially, the NASC Current Affairs Committee is a ‘rapid response’ group that draws upon the knowledge and experience of its members to devise and deliver programmes that will benefit all NASC member companies, their staff members, and the industry as a whole.
“As an industry association, the NASC is proactive in collaborating with its members and ensuring representation from scaffolding companies of all sizes across all UK regions. I am delighted to be representing Millcroft on the committee and to have been given the opportunity to play such an active role supporting the industry in raising standards and attracting talent.”
The NASC Current Affairs Committee meets twice a year to enable members to table ideas, raise issues of interest and assign roles and responsibilities for proposed actions.
Henry Annafi, Training Officer at the NASC adds: “Mike’s experience and can-do approach are well known in the scaffolding industry, so he was identified as an ideal candidate to join the committee. He has been instrumental in introducing a wide variety of programmes at Millcroft that exemplify the positive approach we want to see in the scaffolding sector, such as mental health training and a structured Kickstart trainee development programme. We are certain he will be a huge asset to the team.”
