At Millcroft, we are committed to enhancing the overall workplace experience for our team by providing a comfortable working environment. Recently, this has involved a substantial investment in refurbishing and building new facilities at our depot in Greenwich, including a complete soft strip of the existing office, toilets and canteen, which was established more than 20 years old.
Millcroft’s Construction Division played a pivotal role in this extensive refurbishment project. With such expertise available on our doorstep, it seemed only natural to use our homegrown talent, and as you can see from the photos, they’ve done a fantastic job.
The upgrade of the office involved stripping out the old office space and installing new IT equipment. New desks complete the contemporary setup and provide a fresh and efficient workspace for Yard Manager Mick Williamson and his team. The new office also features a striking glass door imprinted with Millcroft’s 50 year anniversary logo - welcoming employees and visitors alike.
A notable improvement to the facilities is the new, modern washrooms. Millcroft’s construction division built two new toilet cubicles, urinals and two shower units, along with dedicated space for lockers. This upgrade provides our staff with fresher, cleaner and more practical facilities.
Our canteen space has also undergone a complete transformation. It now comprises floor-to-ceiling lockable PPE storage units at one end, to provide a secure and organised solution for equipment storage. At the other end is a new, industrial style contemporary canteen featuring blacked-out ceilings, soft downlighting and exposed utilities. There are also new kitchen units with stonework tops and splashbacks to add a further touch of sophistication.
Millcroft’s in-house construction division expertly carried out all the work of this project. To many people, Millcroft is known as a scaffolding company, however, it began more than 50 years ago as a construction company, mainly carrying out conversions, refurbishment, and general building works for contractors and local authorities. This work evolved and expanded to include scaffolding, and as the scaffolding work expanded, our founder, Roy Jones, decided to open a dedicated scaffolding division which has become the dominant part of the business.
Over the years, our construction division too has gone from strength to strength. Today, Millcroft Construction works predominantly as the main contractor for industrial and commercial clients, offering a wide range of services, including steelwork, concrete, brickwork, blockwork packages, waterproofing, and office space refurbishment, like our recent Greenwich depot upgrade project.
Millcroft Construction’s Operations Manager, Dominic Philip, commented: “Our Greenwich depot needed modernisation, so it made perfect sense to use our in-house construction expertise for the refit.
“We stripped back the tired old facilities and redesigned the whole area with fresh, contemporary amenities more suited to today’s workforce and our premium brand. The team has done an outstanding job bringing the plans to life. The new office area, canteen and washroom provide an uplifting, comfortable working environment. We’re delighted with the transformation, and feedback from staff has been extremely positive.”
